Local Liberal Democrats are outraged by the Government’s intention to divert money into building new grammar schools, when existing schools in West Sussex have been forced to cut expenditure to the bone.
Schools have cut both teaching and support staff numbers, and reduced maintenance, as well as cutting costs for vital services such as counselling that may enable children to access education. School budgets have taken a constant battering.
West Sussex Schools have been struggling for years on less money than many parts of the country. West Sussex schools receive around £402 per pupil less than the national average. Liberal Democrats will fight for Fair Funding for our schools.
